It’s been a little quiet lately so I thought I better post an update. Since the last post there have been over 350 updates made to the software. A lot have focussed on reliability and robustness of the connection, but here are a few of my favourite ‘user facing’ changes.
Idle Advance Doctor
Scattered Read
MS3 (and Speeduino if my MR is accepted) has the capability to be a lot smarter in the data transfer. Normally, the tuning app says ‘give me all your realtime data’ and the ECU responds. However, a lot of this data is redundant as if you are only showing a handful of gauges, or logging 20 fields, why send 200? The tuning app tells the ECU what fields it is acutally interested in and then when prodded the ECU only sends those. I’ve got read rates of over 100Hz out of my Mega running Speeduino with this.
Maps In Logs
When I’m out in my car logging and it does something weird, I remember where I am when it happens, but I don’t remember the timestamp. If your logfile contains GPS information, it will plot your journey on a map and show the route segment that the chart currently shows. Here I am driving through the pleasant village of Wheathampstead in Hertforshire
What’s Next?
I’m working with a user in the Netherlands on getting CANBus working correctly. I’m also experimenting with detecting compression strokes during tooth logging to help set up trigger wheel angles correctly. Watch this space!
